Member of the Mile End Institute Advisory Board
Elizabeth was Vice-Chair of the Council of Queen Mary University of London until the term of her appointment ended in December 2015.
During her ten years on Council, Elizabeth played her part on several Council committees and projects (including being Council lead on Risk), and chaired the University’s Ethics of Research Committee, which she continues to do.
Elizabeth was also a trustee of the Students’ Union at the time when it became an independent charity.
Before retirement, Elizabeth worked for the then Financial Services Authority, mainly in consumer protection, having had an earlier career in the civil service including several years in Brussels and periods in the Press Office of 10 Downing Street and of the Privy Council Office.
Elizabeth has continued to pursue her interests in ethical governance and regulation, having been a Director of the Standards Board for England and working with the Bar Standards Board on the development of regulation of the Bar.
She continues as an adviser on standards to the local Council. She is also active on Church of England committees and is a trustee of several local charities, including the University Schools Trust when it comes into being next September.
